02 An Interview with, Liz Carter, the Republican candidate for the US House of Representatives for Georgia's 4th Congressional District - Part ll The issues that are most important for Ms. Carter are: the economy-her District, is suffering of almost 17% unemployment, double that of the nation; education,- the closing of 11 schools in her district and the continual loss of jobs(despite the monies ($150 Million) brought into the District by her opponent). She is also an ardent advocate of school choice; healthcare-which she describes is "all about control, increased spending and TAXES, including the insertion in the health care bill of the student loan overhaul legislation, which has nothing to do with Healthcare. Ms. Carter speaks as a mother whose greater concern is that this enormous government spending today will be a burden to future generations. On August 24th, GOP.Gov released A TIMELINE OF THE PERSONAL PUBLIC DEBT BURDEN FOR A CHILD BORN IN 2010. Among the many endorsements, Ms Carter has received, the one from the DeKalb Fraternal Order of Police is important because it has, if not always, supported democrats for many years. When asked about the constant criticism spewed against the Tea Parties, one, for instance, that it is not an "intellectual" movement, Ms. Carter explained that the "grass roots conservative movement [has] a sweeping influence. with a collective cause...formed by people from all walks of life and races.who demand fiscal responsibility from their government ". Are we heading into a European-styled socialism? Yes, when the government controls everything.we must wake up as a country .and not let the government come into our homes, don't let the government tell us how to run our businesses." And what about the people of her District? Jobs are continuing to leave...unemployment is on the rises schools are being closed."
